Lady Mustangs close out road trip strong with sweep

The Master's University women's volleyball team got their second sweep on the season to improve to 4-4 with their win over Montana Western on Saturday in Nampa, Ida.

TMU was efficient offensively, hitting .258 for the 3-set win, and Chloe Grever led the charge with 17 kills.

With the score starting off close in the first set, TMU used a 4-0 run to take a 14-7 advantage, thanks to a kill by Krista Brady from Cassidy Clark. Montana Western was able to rally and tie the game at 16 and eventually taking the lead at 19-18. But Master's score five of the last seven points to seal the opening-set win.

Montana Western seemed poised to take the second set and even the match, as they held advantages of 13-9 and 15-10. But a 4-0 TMU spurt but them back in it at 15-14, and they were able to take the second set, closing the frame out on a 6-1 run, with the only point for Montana Western coming on a Krista Brady service error.

The final set remained close throughout the early stages, as the score was tied at 12-12. That's when the Lady Mustangs ripped off another 4-0 run to shoot in to the lead. Montana Western slowly tried to climb back into the game as the teams traded points, but a kill from Brady would be the final play, as TMU picked up their second win in a row.

Macy Gebhards had 13 kills and Clark tied her career-high in assists from last night with 42.

TMU will head out on an Arizona trip next weekend for matches against OUAZ on Friday and Arizona Christian on Sautrday and also traveling to play Life Pacfic before returning home on September 12 to take on Park Gilbert University.
