The Master's University set a school record in the distance medley relay and the Mustangs had five other athletes advance to Saturday's finals at the NAIA Indoor National Championships in Gainsville, Fla.
Hunter Roy got the men off to a strong start in the 1200m leg, handing off in second place with a 3:01.43 split. Roy also qualified for the open 800m final, with a 1:52.87.

Elijah Lovett on the 800 got the baton to NAIA XC individual champ
Jack Anderson for the 1600m leg in fourth place. Anderson went to work, running a smooth 4:09 split to edge past Cumberlands for the final auto-qualifying spot. TMU broke the school record of the 2023 national championship squad, which was TMU's first indoor track title of the program's history.
The women's DMR also nabbed a qualifier to Saturday's final in an all-around solid performance for the Lady Mustangs. Suzie Johnson on the 1600m anchor leg took the Mustangs into the top-5 overall and secured their spot for the final. Johnson competed in the open 800m as well, running 2:17.
With the 5000m and 3000m heading straight to a Saturday final, Anderson will compete for his first indoor track title in the 3000m and
Emmanuel De Leon will be a part of the 5000m field. Alyssa Lovett with run in the 3000m and Emma Nelson in the 5000m.
After Saturday's finals, TMU will race next at the Occidental Distance Carnival next Saturday in Los Angeles, Calif.
