Lady Mustangs Sweep Hope International to Snap Two-Match Skid

Kinsley Kollmann put down 17 kills while hitting .517, and The Master's University women's volleyball team swept Hope International 25-16, 25-16, 25-13 on Saturday afternoon at Darling Pavilion.

The win ended a two-match skid from TMU's road trip to Indiana earlier in the week. It moves the Lady Mustangs to 14-7 overall and 10-1 in GSAC play.

TMU controlled the match at the net, hitting .409 as a team while holding the Royals to .119. The Lady Mustangs also held big edges in kills (51-26), blocks (7-2), aces (7-4) and digs (57-46).

Kollmann did a little of everything. Along with her 17 kills on 29 swings, she added 12 digs for a double-double and served three aces.

Krista Brady added 12 kills. McKenna Brady was nearly unstoppable in the middle, finishing with 10 kills on 15 attempts with no errors (.667) and three blocks. Isabella Amet chipped in eight kills at a .467 clip.

Setter Kate Wagner ran the offense with 39 assists and added 10 digs for a double-double of her own. Sierra Hale led the back row with 13 digs and served two aces. Camdyn Gebhards was in on a team-high four blocks.

TMU broke open the first set with a pair of short runs. Wagner's serve stretched an 8-5 lead to 10-5, and Hale's serve pushed a 12-7 lead to 14-7. The Lady Mustangs cruised from there.

Hope International led 11-9 in the second set before TMU took over. Krista Brady sided out, and then Amet went back to serve. The Lady Mustangs reeled off six straight points behind kills from Kollmann and Krista Brady and back-to-back blocks, and they never trailed again.

The third set belonged to Kollmann. With TMU up 7-5, she served nine straight points, including back-to-back aces, to build a 16-5 lead. Colette Collins closed out the match with an ace.

Manaia Mamea led the Royals (8-11, 6-4 GSAC) with 10 kills.

The Lady Mustangs return home to host Embry-Riddle on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 2 p.m. at The MacArthur Center.
