Two Lady Mustang Hat Tricks Power TMU Past BenU

Maddy Traylor and Bryanna Elias each scored a hat trick as The Master's University women's soccer team routed Benedictine Mesa 9-0 on Saturday night at Santos Soccer Complex.

The win is TMU's fourth straight and moves the Lady Mustangs to 11-1-2 overall and 9-0-1 in GSAC play. All 11 of TMU's wins this season have been shutouts. The Lady Mustangs are 11-0-2 since their season-opening loss to College of Idaho on Aug. 27.

Traylor did it all, finishing with three goals and three assists for nine points. She took 11 shots, seven on target, and her three goals give her 19 for the season. Elias added three goals and an assist from her defensive spot.

TMU wasted no time. Taya Pickup opened the scoring just 4:23 into the match. Traylor followed at 7:04, finishing off a feed from Kaylee Bates.

Elias then struck twice before the 22nd minute:

  • 12:41: assisted by Breanna Fajardo and Traylor
  • 21:33: assisted by Bates

That sent the Lady Mustangs into halftime up 4-0.

The second half brought more of the same. Traylor set up Elias for her third goal at 55:04 and then assisted Fajardo at 59:49. Fajardo and Katie Trinh returned the favor at 62:09, combining to set up Traylor's second goal.

Rachel Snow scored off an Autumn Heeb assist in the 77th minute. Elias set up Traylor for the final goal at 87:33 to complete Traylor's hat trick.

Fajardo finished with a goal and two assists. She led the team with 13 shots, eight on goal. Bates added two assists, and Trinh and Heeb each had one.

The Lady Mustangs outshot the Red Hawks 48-6, putting 25 shots on target, and held a 12-2 edge in corner kicks.

Katie Snow made two saves in the first half. Natalia Ramirez played the second half without facing a shot on goal as the two keepers combined on the shutout.

The Lady Mustangs return home to host Park Gilbert on Thursday, Oct. 22, at 1:30 p.m. at Reese Field.
