Box Score The Lady Mustangs volleyball team improved to 8-1 with their win over Arizona Christian University Saturday in The MacArthur Center.
TMU won in three straight sets (25-16, 25-21, 25-13) to open 2025 GSAC play.
The Lady Mustangs dominated the first set, expanding to leads of 14-7, 17-8, and eventually 22-10 off a block by
Krista Brady and
Isabella Amet. Brady and
Kate Wagner would close out the set victory with another assisted block.
In the second set, ACU went on a 6-1 run from when the score was 3-3 to 9-4, prompting a timeout from TMU Head Coach
McKenna Hafner. Following the timeout, TMU surged back in front with a 7-1 run of their own to lead 11-10, thanks to the efforts of
Isabella Amet.
"I thought Bella demonstrated alot of maturity and leadership in that set where we were feeling very shaky," Hafner said. "She continued to pass the ball and defend efficiently."
TMU would finish the second set the same way they finished the first: with a block by Kista Brady and
Kate Wagner.
"I liked that we executed in things that have been a priority in practice for us this week," Hafner said. "Our ball control and our first touch was good and that was what we were looking for."
The Lady Mustangs once again dominated the last set, raking in kills from
Macy Gebhards,
Kinsley Kollmann and Amet.
Kate Wagner had two service aces in the final frame to put ACU away for good. TMU hit .294 in the last set compared to just .026 for ACU.
Kinsley Kollmann led the team with 11 kills and
Isabella Amet added six kills and six digs.
TMU moved to 1-0 in GSAC play and 8-1 overall. The Lady Mustangs will host Occidental College on Sep 12 at The MacArthur Center.
