Box Score The Master's University women's volleyball team moved to 3-0 with a victory over Simpson University in four sets Saturday in the Hope Summer Slam in Fullerton, Calif.

Isabella Amet and Krista Brady led the way, as each recorded 11 kills. TMU hit .205 as a team in the 25-20, 25-18, 20-25, 25-14 win.

Senior All-GSAC Sierra Hale added 28 digs and Kate Wagner dished out 28 assists.

TMU made a few changes to their starting lineup for this game, sitting GSAC Player of the Year Grace Colburn.

"We went with a different starting lineup than we were expecting, so I thought we played maturely and compsed in light of that," Head Coach McKenna Hafner said.

After a back and forth first set, the No. 23-ranked Mustangs scored four straight points late to take control and take the opening set. Despite an early 7-3 deficit, TMU kept on rolling in the second set as they rattled off another 5-0 run to take an 18-12 lead and eventually take a 2-0 set lead. TMU had 14 kills and hit .265 overall in the second set.

In another back and forth third set, which had nine lead changes, Simpson would battle back and outscored the Mustangs 7-2 over the final 9 points to take the win.

Simpson's set win would force the fourth set but TMU dominated the final frame, as they hit .296 during the fourth set. The Mustangs forced Simpson into six errors and notched seven aces during the last set and they coasted to a 25-14 win.

"Our defense got a ton better, blocking and digging." Hafner said. "We've talked a lot about being composed and mature on the court and I thought that was the biggest change from the third to the fourth set."

TMU had 15 aces overall, compared to just four aces for Simpson, and won the block battle 9-4.

TMU has gone 3-0 in the Hope Summer Slam but will face a challenge in their final game, facing the No. 6-ranked Southern Oregon University in the last game of the tournament Saturday afternoon.
