Lady Mustangs open GSAC play in dominant fashion

The Master's University women's basketball team took down the OUAZ Spirit in dominant fashion in their GSAC opener, 75-40 Thursday in Santa Clarita, Calif.

TMU had four players score in double figures, led by Chloe Auble who had 21 points and buried eight triples, including several highly-contested shots.

TMU's offense struggled a bit in the opening quarter, but the defense was active, holding the Spirit to just eight first-quarter points and 17 for the first half. Overall, they had five blocks and nine steals while forcing 14 OUAZ turnovers.

"Great game tonight," TMU Head Coach Fonda Wilson said. "We played a full and complete game. Defense was great and offense executed well."

In the second quarter, the Lady Mustangs began to heat up, and after halftime, they dropped 23 points in the third quarter. In that third quarter, TMU grabbed seven offensive rebounds and Izbella Forker had nine points to lead the way. TMU coasted to a 35-point win to improve to 1-0 in GSAC play.

TMU finished the game holding OUAZ to 30.9% shooting from the field and just one make from three-point range in fifteen tries. Forker had 16 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double and Alli VanKooten had 10 points and nine rebounds.

"I'm so proud of them for working together as a team," Coach Wilson said. "Chloe Auble shot so well and Izabella Forker had a fantastic game as well."

TMU's next game will be on the road to face La Sierra University on Saturday in Riverside, Calif.
