Box Score An explosive third quarter did in The Master's women's basketball team as they lost to the College of Idaho Yotes 76-60 Friday night in Caldwell, Idaho.
The Yotes outscored the Lady Mustangs (3-4) 24-12 in that pivotal third quarter to put TMU down 59-42 going into the final quarter.
Master's hit just 5 of 15 in the frame, losing the rebounding battle 14-5 over those 10 minutes. College of Idaho hit 11 of 18 (61%) during that same period.
For the game, TMU made 39% from the field compared to 44% for Idaho and were out-worked on the boards 50-33. The Yotes were also able to net 19 second chance points off their 17 offensive rebounds.
"Wasn't our best effort tonight," Head Coach Gonda Wilson said. "We didn't execute our offense well and honestly just didn't show up to play. All in all, it's good for us to lose early in the season and have this under our belt. Now it's time to see how the girls will respond and overcome tomorrow."
Allie Miller was clearly a bright spot for the Lady Mustangs as she poured in a career-high 26 points on 10 of 16 shooting.
"She brought her game and showed up tonight," Coach Wilson said. "She shot super well and kept hustling every play. Her defense was key and lead into her offense."
Alli VanKooten secured her fourth double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
The Master's will have just tonight to rest as they are back on the court to face Eastern Oregon Saturday morning to finish off the Caldwell Classic. Tip-off is scheduled for 9 a.m. PST.
