Lady Mustangs top Park-Gilbert, improve win streak

The Master's University women's volleyball team topped Park-Gilbert in another 3-set win Friday in The MacArthur Center.

The Lady Mustangs have now won five in a row and swept the last four. Bella Amet led the way with 17 kills as TMU hit .391 to outpace the Bucs.

Coming off a game just last night, TMU raced out to an early lead thanks to the efforts of Macy Gehbards and Kinsley Kollmann. TMU scored six straight points to take down the Bucs in the first set with Kiera Maynard closing the door with her first kill of the night.

"I was really proud of the team for showing up and playing intense," TMU Head Coach McKenna Hafner said. "We executed and fired on all cylinders tonight. Even when we changed up those lineups, we played really well."

One of those lineup changes was freshman setter Cassidy Clark who got some run in place of Kate Wagner. Clark totaled 24 assists to lead all players.

Into the second set, TMU faced a bit more of a challenger from Park-Gilbert, with the Bucs holding a lead of 14-13 after a 5-0 run. The game was deadlocked at 20 but a combination of errors from Park-Gilbert and Kollmann's kills gave TMU firm control of the game with a 2-0 lead.

The third set continued to favor the Mustangs as they held leads of 16-9 and 22-11. TMU took the third set 25-17 off a Park-Gilbert error.

TMU dominated the scoreboard with more kills, aces, assists and digs.

The Lady Mustangs will play next against La Sierra University on Senior Night Wednesday in The MacArthur Center.
