TMU wins final match at Summer Slam

The Master's women's volleyball finished off the Hope Summer Slam with a 25-17, 25-19, 25-20 win over the Providence Christian Sea Beggars Saturday in Fullerton, Calif.

TMU hit .384 for the match with 40 kills, holding PCC to 26 kills and .169 hitting. The team's serve proved strong once again as they collected 13 service aces.

The Lady Mustangs (3-2) jumped out to quick leads in all three sets and only relinquished a lead one time in the third set. After a PCC kill gave the Sea Beggars a 15-13 lead in that set, TMU went on a 12-5 run to close out the set and the match.

Grace Colburn led the charge with 16 kills and hit .483 for the match. McKenna Brady added 10 kills and added a pair of blocks. Isabella Amet had a team-high four aces followed by three each for Timberlie Miller and Cara Dunnigan. Miller also dished 31 assists with Sierra Hale proving solid in the back row with a team-high 11 digs.

The Master's will be on the road this Tuesday for an exhibition match against Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The next counting matches will be on Friday as the team travels to Omaha Neb. for the College of Saint Mary Labor Day Classic. TMU will face three teams in the top 25 at the tournament, beginning with #16 Indiana University Kokomo at 8 a.m., followed by a 2 p.m. match against #2 Northwestern College (IA).
