The Master's University women's soccer season comes to an unfortunate end after a 1-0 loss against the No. 4 University of Tennessee Southern Firebirds in the NAIA Opening Round match Saturday afternoon.
The Mustangs kept the scoreboard blank for most of the game, having to defend the No. 11-seed Firebirds squad that had 148 goals this season and averaged 7.4 goals a game.
And offensively, the Firebirds brought the heat with 12 shots and seven shots on goal over the six shots and two shots on goal the Mustangs had.
But when it looked like the game was going into overtime, Tennessee Southern put on the pressure and potted in the lone goal with 30 seconds left in the game.
The opening round match was the first NAIA appearance for the Mustangs since 2019.
And with the final game of the season, seven Mustangs played their final collegiate game as
Jess Furr,
Mary Mobley, Hannah Kopp,
Kate Merical,
Bekah Micu,
Alyssa Luna and
Lauren Park will graduate and depart the team.
