Women's volleyball gets back in win column

Box Score The Master's women's volleyball team was able to regroup after last night's loss to defeat the Arizona Christian Firestorm 25-20, 25-22, 26-24 Saturday afternoon in Glendale, Ariz.

The Lady Mustangs (15-6, 9-2) hit .295 in the match with 49 kills, five aces and four blocks. The Firestorm hit .221 with 40 kills, four aces and six blocks.

The Firestorm jumped out to an 8-4 lead to start the first set, only to see TMU tie it at 10-10 before taking control and taking the lead to as much as six. Kills by McKenna Brady and Ruby Duncan helped take the lead to set point before a service error gave the set to The Master's.

The second set started off tight once again before the Lady Mustangs were able to get three in a row and open up a 4-point lead. Moments later, ACU was able to knock off four in a row to tie the set at 16-16. It stayed tight, getting to 22-22, before got kills from Kinsley Kollman and Duncan to get the last three points and take the second set by three.

TMU looked like they were going to sail through set three when they opened up a 6-1 lead. But the Firestorm went on a 7-2 run to tie it at 8-8. It stayed within a point lead for either team until Kollman got three kills in a row to lift the score to 22-18. After the teams traded points, ACU got three kills and a TMU attack error to get four in a row and take it to set point 24-23. But an ACU attack error was followed by a Duncan kill and a Kollman ace to win the match for the Lady Mustangs.

Duncan finished with a game-high 18 kills and added three blocks. Kollman tallied 13 kills with three aces, and Bella Amet finished with 10 kills. Setter Timberlie Miller had 34 assists in the 3-set match, with Sierra Hale leading the back-row defense with 15 digs.

The next two matches for The Master's will be back home in The MacArthur center beginning Wednesday night against Park-Gilbert. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
