The Master's University women's soccer team traveled to Carlsbad, Calif. Thursday to open their season against the Saint Katherine Firebirds.
It ended in a 0-0 tie.
TMU outshot the Firebirds 12-6, with eight of those 12 shots on goal, but could not place the ball into the net.
"For our opening game of the season, the team played very well on both ends of the field," said TMU Head Coach Esteban Chavez. "(Our players) showed composure, patience and game awareness, which if continued will lead to a good brand of soccer."
Sophomore
Sinclair Francescon led the Lady Mustangs with four shots, three of which were on goal. Freshman
Cynthia Ramos took three shots (two on goal), and returning All-GSAC forward
Hannah Burke had two shots (one on goal).
All-GSACÂ goalie
Autumn Jensen finished the 90 minutes with three saves.
"I think the team saw today what the identity of the team is and have embraced it," Chavez said. "Our coaching staff was definitely pleased with the way the girls represented our institution today."
The Master's will have their home opener Saturday against UC Merced, a team that finished last season 10-6-3. Game time is 11 a.m.
