Box Score The Master's women's basketball team got scoring from 10 different players as they defeated College of Idaho 89-52 Thursday in Caldwell, Idaho.
The Lady Mustangs were 33-of-56 (59%) from the field and limited the Yotes to under 36%.
For the second game in a row, the defense asserted itself in the first quarter. TMU jumped out to a 14-6 lead at the end of the first 10 minutes, which they extended to 42-25 at halftime.
The Yotes came out of the locker room on a mission, scoring 22 points in the quarter. But TMU matched that with 28 of their own in the period before bringing the defense back in the final frame. COI could only score five points in the final 10 minutes, while the Lady Mustangs dropped 19 to closeout the 37-point win.
TMU has now scored more than 80 points in each of its first two games. They achieved that nine times out of the 27 games played last year.
Perhaps more importantly, it is the second game that the defense has held opponents to 52 or less points. They achieved that five times all of last season.
Lexi Hernandez led TMU with 19 points in the game, followed by 17 from
Marin Lenz and 15 from Belle Hernandez.
Madeline Cooke scored a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Master's will play an exhibition game Friday night against the Boise State Broncos. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. PT.
