Marin Lenz scored a career-high 32 points as The Master's defeated host Northwest University 82-59 in the final game of the Northwest Classic Saturday in Kirkland, Wash.
Lenz averaged 28.5 points in the two games the Lady Mustangs (4-0) played in the Northwest Classic.
"A really physical game today from start to finish," said Head Coach Lisa Zamroz. "It took some time to adjust to a tighter called game from last night."
TMU led by 16, 38-22 at the break, struggling to score in the first quarter (5-of-17) but finding it in the second (8-for-16).
The Eagles came out of the half with the right adjustments, out-scoring The Master's 23-18 in the third quarter and holding TMU to just eight shots the entire quarter.
"We found our groove in the second but they came out of the half with a run to jump right back in it," Zamroz said.
What the Lady Mustangs did very well in that third quarter, though, was get to the foul line. Lenz and
Nicole Chuang repeatedly drew fouls, hitting 10-of-10 from the line.
"Nicole and Marin took turns breaking down the defense and drawing fouls of their own," said Zamroz. "We shot great from the line. Once we saw some success with the spread offense, it built confidence and it worked well to build our lead to the finish."
The fourth quarter was back to form, with TMU winning the quarter 26-14 on 9-of-18 shooting, including three 3-pointers, to get the 23-point win.
"I'm proud of our girls," Zamroz said. "It takes everyone and everyone is really owning their roles right now and executing individually and as a team."
In the first four games, The Master's is averaging 89.3 points on offense and giving up only 54.0 defensively.
The Lady Mustangs have one more road game before returning home to The MacArthur Center. TMU plays the University of Antelope Valley Thursday in Lancaster. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
