The Master's women's volleyball team took it on the chin Friday night, losing to the No. 12 Vanguard Lions in straight sets 25-17, 25-23, 25-18.
Â
TMU (12-10, 2-6 GSAC) could only muster 21 kills compared to the Lions' 48, hitting .111 for the match versus Vanguard's .278.
Â
The Lady Mustangs looked like they were going to even the score at one set apiece in the second when they led by as much as six at 15-9. But Vanguard went on a 7-1 run to tie it at 16-16 and take away TMU's momentum. After the Lions took the lead, TMU fought back to tie it at 23-23, but the final two kills went to VU for the win.
Â
Still, it was the best set for The Master's on the night as the team hit .300 with 10 kills and only one hitting error. But they could not duplicate the effort again.
Â
Ruby Duncan led the team with six kills followed by
Faith Tarver's five.
Breanna Brooks and
Isabella Amet each secured four kills. It was the best home match for the freshman Amet.
Â
The Master's will travel to San Dimas, Calif. Saturday to take on Life Pacific. The match is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
