The Arizona Christian Firestorm scored a goal in the 16th minute of the first half and that was all they needed as they defeated The Master's 1-0 Saturday in Glendale, Ariz.
The Lady Mustangs (8-4-3, 3-2-2 GSAC) were able to control the action more and out-shot the Firestorm 19-13, but those numbers aren't what matters on the scoreboard.
"Another solid performance with a very depleted team due to injuries," said TMU Head Coach Esteban Chavez. "We continue to out shoot and out possess teams, regardless of the circumstances."
Cynthia Ramos had six shots (four on goal), with
Sinclair Francescon also getting off six shots (one on goal). Both
Hannah Burke and
Emma Hopkins had three shots, with
Alyssa Hopewell getting off a shot as well.
Of the 13 shots ACU had, only three were on goal.
Autumn Jensen finished with two saves.
The loss drops The Master's to a 4th place finish in conference behind OUAZ, Hope International and ACU. They will host Vanguard in the opening round of the GSAC Championship Tournament next Saturday at 11 a.m.
"We have good rhythm going into the conference tournament game next week at home," Chavez said.
