Mustangs shut out on the road

Box Score Two goals in each half did in The Master's men's soccer team as they lost on the road to Hope International 4-0 Thursday in Irvine, Calif.

The Mustangs (6-4-3, 2-2-1 GSAC) had their opportunities as they actually out-shot the Royals 18-12, with six of those 18 on goal. But none could find the back of the net.

HIU scored first half goals in the seventh and 35th minutes, then followed those with goals in the 58th and 69th minutes.

"A couple of really nice early goals by HIU put us on our back foot," said TMU Head Coach Jim Rickard. "I didn't prepare them well enough today to the dangers of HIU's offense and it burned us. The guys worked hard and gave me all that they had but it wasn't enough to tip the scales. I think I have to find new and more effective ways to prepare them for the top conference teams. I take the blame for today's performance."

Prince Chingancheke led the attack with six shots, while Kai Terentieff got off three and Matt Picht fired a pair of shots.

The Master's will celebrate their seniors this Saturday at Reese Field in the final home game of the regular season. The Mustangs face the OUAZ Spirit with kickoff scheduled for 1:30 p.m. The nine seniors playing their final home game will be honored during halftime of the match.

"We will try to reorganize (Friday) and prepare for an important match vs OUAZ on senior day," Rickard said.
