Box Score Belle Hernandez scored a career high and The Master's pulled off a near perfect third quarter as the Lady Mustangs defeated the OUAZ Spirit 86-47 Saturday afternoon in Surprise, Ariz.

The Master's out-scored the Spirit 26-2 in the third quarter, holding OUAZ to just 1-for-20 in the period. The scoring continued in the fourth quarter when TMU came out on an 8-0 run. In total, the Lady Mustangs scored 28 unanswered points over a 10-minute stretch of the second half.

"A poorly executed first half followed by an explosive showing in the second," said Head Coach Lisa Zamroz. "I love the way we responded at halftime. This is a great win to take into a tough road matchup next week."

Over the entire second half, The Master's out-scored OUAZ 50-15, led by Belle Hernandez's career-high 33 points. The 6-2 junior was 11-of-18 from the field, 5-for-6 from behind the arc and 6-for-7 from the free throw line.

"I'm so happy for Belle," Zamroz said. "She has one of the purest lefty strokes I've ever seen but has been in a tough drought. A breakout game like this has been brewing and I'm thrilled to see it."

OUAZ led at the end of the first quarter 18-16, with The Master's gaining ground in the second to take a 36-32 lead to the locker room. That set the stage for the explosive second half to secure the win and stop a two-game losing streak. It was the eighth time this season TMU scored 85-or-more points in a game.

For the game the Lady Mustangs were 29-of-55 (53%) from the field, 12-of-19 (63%) from long range and 16-of-21 (76%) from the line. They out-rebounded the Spirit 48-29, and held OUAZ to just 23% shooting.

Ella Brubaker poured in 20 points, Marin Lenz scored 13 and added a team-high eight rebounds, and Madeline Cooke added four more blocks to her GSAC-leading total.

The Master's will get a full week off before traveling to Santa Barbara next Saturday to take on the conference-leading Westmont Warriors. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
