The Master's women's volleyball team won their opening match in the Electric City Invitational in a dramatic five sets over the University of Saint Francis (IN) Cougars Friday in Great Falls, Mont.

The Lady Mustangs dropped the first set 25-11 before storming out to get the next two sets 25-21 and 25-18. The Cougars surged back impressively to take the fourth set 25-13 setting up the dramatic fifth set.

TMU (2-0) jumped out to an early lead only to see USF (4-2) surge ahead 11-8. After a timeout by head coach
Annett Davis, the Lady Mustangs rattled off four straight points, including an ace by
Anna Poole, to take a 12-11 lead. With the score then tied at 12,
Ruby Duncan collected her sixth kill of the game followed by Jessi Swenning blasting her time-high 11
th kill from the middle to bring it to match point. A hitting error by the Cougars gave the Mustangs the win.

"We started off pretty nervous," said TMU Head Coach
Annett Davis. "As the match went on the girls settled down and started playing better volleyball. Things shifted in our favor when we started setting our middles more."

Breanna Brooks and
Faith Tarver each had seven kills for TMU, with
Timberlie Miller dishing a team-high 18 assists followed by
Natalie Collins with 16. Swenning added six blocks to go with her 11 kills, with Collins and Poole each grabbing two services aces.

"It was a great first test of the season for us since a couple of our pre-season matches were postponed," Davis said.

Later Friday afternoon The Master's will face Montana Tech in their second match of the day. The Electric City Invitational continues Saturday with the Lady Mustangs scheduled to play #2 University of Jamestown at 10 a.m. PDT, followed by a match against Haskell Indian Nations University at 1 p.m.
