Second-seeded Hope International University held TMU Men's Basketball to just 11 first-half points, as the Royals defeated the Mustangs 73-40 in the Golden State Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinals on Thursday night in Fullerton.
After making 12 3-pointers in a dominant win over San Diego Christian on Wednesday, Master's couldn't find its 3-point stroke against Hope, shooting 4-for-26 (15.4%) from behind the arc. HIU held TMU to just 30.6% shooting overall.
The Mustang defense kept Master's in the game, allowing only 26 points in the opening 20 minutes, but couldn't keep pace with the Royal offense as the game went on.
Gavin DeJong led TMU with 12 points and five rebounds, while
Johnny McWilliams contributed eight points and four rebounds.
Master's finishes its season 19-12 overall.
