Christian Sweazie hit four 3's in the first half and finished with 20 points to lead The Master's University men's basketball team to a 95-62 win over Life Pacific Thursday in San Dimas.
Twelve players contributed to the the Mustangs fourth consecutive win, with 11 getting in the scoring column. The team shot 55% from the field, including 17-of-32 (53%) from 3-point range.
But just as impressive was the defense, holding a Warriors squad that has averaged 88 points per game to just 62 on 36% shooting and only 3-of-23 from behind the arc.
"We played great tonight on both ends of the floor," said Head Coach Kelvin Starr. "We went on the road and did an amazing job defensively. They are one of the best 3-point shooting teams in the league."
Sweazie hit his first three to start the scoring in the game and The Master's (8-3, 2-2) never let it get close after that. The Mustangs opening up a 17-point advantage with 7:25 to play in the first half before heading to the locker room up 39-26.
The scoring continued in the second half as TMU came out of the half on a 21-4 run in the first five minutes to open up a 25-point lead. The advantage got to as high as 40 points before the final 33-point difference.
It was the fourth game of the season with the Mustangs scoring more than 90 points. And the 49 rebounds was the second highest of the season and eighth game of the 11 that they pulled down over 40 in a game.
Kamrin Oriol once again was a spark off the bench, scoring 13 and pulling down a team-high eight rebounds.
Victor Ohia Obioha added 11 and Deondra Earley scored 10. Players off the bench scored more than half (48) of the team's 95 points.
"Christian is shooting the ball really well," Starr said. "I'm proud of the guy's effort tonight. They were locked in."
The team will be on the road again this Saturday as they take on Hope International in Fullerton. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
