TMU Bench Has Career Night in Win

Three different players had their greatest game as a collegian in The Master's 89-56 win over the Lincoln University Oaklanders Monday night at The MacArthur Center.

Jayla Julmist pulled down a career-high 18 rebounds, Heidi Impola hit five 3s in the fourth quarter to finish with a career-high 15 points, and Chloe Strachan hit a pair of 3s in the third quarter to seal her best performance with six points.

"Going into the game we were hoping to execute better defensively, and I think we adjusted well in the second half," said The Master's Head Coach Lisa Zamroz. "Overall I loved the bench energy that they gave us. Huge production from Chloe (Strachen) to be the sixth man tonight and facilitate the offense really well, knock down a couple of shots, get a couple of assists and no turnovers.

"For Heidi to be that poised and unaffected in the six minutes she played was super fun," she continued. "And it was awesome to see our team get so excited for one another."

It was the fifth time in the first seven games of the season that The Master's (7-0) scored 85 or more points in a game. The team shot better than 47% from the field, 41% from behind the arc, but 5-of-10 from the free throw line. The Lady Mustangs dominated the boards, pulling down 57 versus the Oaklanders 23.

Julmist, a 5-11 sophomore from Sequim, Wash., collected the first double-double of her career as she scored a career-high 11 points to go with her 18 rebounds. She was 5-of-6 from the field and 1-of-2 from the line.

"We've done a lot of skill work, and honestly Coach Greg (Hayes) has done a really good job teaching some fundamental footwork away from the ball," Zamroz said. "And (Julmist) is just like clockwork, doing the right thing and being in the right position. She has a knack for the ball and she's in the right spot at the right time and she's fundamentally rebounding the ball in a way that's not turning it over. I think she has really benefitted playing behind some of the best players who have ever played here."

The Lady Mustangs were once again led in scoring by Ella Brubaker who finished with 22 points on 10-of-17 shooting. It is the sixth time out of the seven games played this season she has scored more than 20 points in a game.

Ten players scored in the game, including 13 from Marin Lenz. It is the fourth time this season the sophomore has scored in double figures.

The Master's have no time to rest as they welcome No. 2 Westmont to The MacArthur Center on Wednesday. Tip-off is at 5:30.
