TMU's high hitting percentage not enough to beat CUI on the road

TMU Men's Volleyball hit an impressive .319 as a team, but had its unbeaten start to the season end on Saturday with a three-set defeat to NCAA Division II Concordia University Irvine. The Eagles beat the Mustangs by set scores of 25-15, 25-22, 25-19.

After posting a .143 attack % in the opening set, Master's improved that mark to .379 in the second and .409 in the third. However, TMU was unable to slow down CUI, who hit .530 for the match and .636 or above in two out of three sets.

Will Avera led Master's with nine kills and a .750 attack %. Trent Norkus followed up with eight kills (.429 attack %), while Brett Norkus had seven kills after hitting .500.

Master's, who was off to its first 2-0 start to a season in program history, continues a tough stretch of its schedule next week when the Mustangs travel to Arizona to take on Benedictine University Mesa (NAIA's second-ranked team) on Thursday and Grand Canyon University (NCAA Division I's sixth-ranked squad) on Friday.
