Two goals in each half propelled UC Merced to a 4-0 victory over TMU Men's Soccer to conclude The Master's Fall Classic on Saturday afternoon.
Â
The Bobcats wasted no time in finding the back of the net less than three minutes in after a mix-up by the Mustang defense.
Â
Caden Zierenberg hit the top of the crossbar with a free kick in the 28th minute, but UCM added a second goal 10 minutes before halftime.Â
Â
Todd Giesbrecht's effort in the 40th minute after the ball bounced out to him inside the top of the box was perhaps TMU's best chance of the game, but his shot went wide and UC Merced took a 2-0 lead into the break.
Â
In the 58th minute, the visitors tacked on another from the penalty spot.
Kian Bensend saved the initial spot kick but was ruled to have encroached off his line, allowing the Bobcats another opportunity from 12-yards out. UCM took full advantage to extend its lead to 3-0.
Â
Aidan Rohde recorded the Mustangs' lone shot on goal in the game in the 63rd minute, forcing a save after latching onto a long ball over the top.
Â
UC Merced then rounded out the scoring in the 74th minute off a corner kick.
Â
The Bobcats limited the Mustangs to just four shots, two in each half, and in the process defeated their third Golden State Athletic Conference team this season.
Â
TMU (2-4-1 overall) returns to Reese Field on Thursday at 4 p.m. for its final non-conference game before beginning GSAC play a week later.
