Three-point shooting sparks TMU Men's Basketball over Life Pacific

TMU Men's Basketball sank 11 3-pointers in the first half at a 50% clip, sparking the Mustangs to a 98-70 Golden State Athletic Conference victory against Life Pacific University on Friday night inside The MacArthur Center.

"We really shot the ball well tonight, which makes everything a little easier," Master's Head Coach Kelvin Starr said. "It was another great team effort with 25 assists. This team shows great unselfishness with the way they play."

The first six field goals made in the game, three from each team, were all from behind the arc. Jordan Starr hit the first two for the Mustangs, before dishing to DJ Wilson for the team's third triple.

Life Pacific led for much of the opening 11 minutes, until with nine minutes remaining in the first half Jaden Graham's tip-in tied the game at 23 apiece.

Caden Starr then caught fire from deep, draining a 3-pointer on three-consecutive possessions, before hitting another triple a few possessions later.

Master's then finished the first period on a 14-2 run to take a 51-33 lead into halftime, making it two games in-a-row that TMU scored over 50 points in the opening half.

The Mustangs then outscored the Warriors by 10 points in the second period, leading by as many as 34 and just missing out on reaching triple digits for the second-straight time. TMU's 28-point margin of victory is the team's second-largest of the season.

Master's outrebounded Life Pacific 34-20, including 10-4 in offensive rebounds, helping the Mustangs to an 18-6 advantage in second-chance points.

TMU also led in bench points, 56-38, with Caden Starr (21 points, four assists) and Jaden Graham (17 points, 11 rebounds) leading the second unit. Davian Brown (21 points, five assists, four rebounds) and Gavin Lloyd (10 points, four rebounds) were the other two Mustangs to score in double figures.

Master's (8-3 overall) returns to Bross Gymnasium on Tuesday to take on La Sierra University at 5 p.m. before the Mustangs host the New Year's Classic Dec. 30-31.
