Mustangs execute in road win over Antelope Valley

No. 17 TMU Men's Basketball defeated University of Antelope Valley for the second time in eight days, this time by a 90-69 margin in Lancaster on Tuesday night.

"Last time we played them, we got killed on the boards," Master's Head Coach Kelvin Starr said. "The guys took that challenge tonight and dominated the boards."

In a narrow Master's victory on Nov. 16, UAV held a 16-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. On Tuesday, the Mustangs limited the Pioneers to just seven, while winning the overall rebound battle 45-24.

TMU scored the most points it has this season, shooting an impressive 57.7% from the field and 52.2% from 3-point range.

"We finally shot the ball well," Starr said. "Our ball movement and execution had a lot to do with that."

Starr cited the unselfishness of his team in helping run the offense.

Jordan Starr led the Mustangs with his eight assists, while Davian Brown and Caden Starr each added five apiece, as Master's (21 assists) almost doubled the number of assists Antelope Valley recorded (11).

Kaleb Lowery tallied a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Brown pitched in 17. Jordan Starr and Gavin Lloyd (seven rebounds) both scored 10. Jaden Graham (nine points, four rebounds), nearly made it a Mustang quintet in double figures.

"Jaden Graham and Gavin Lloyd gave great production off the bench," Kelvin Starr said. "We had good performances from all of our guys."

Master's (5-1 overall, 0-1 GSAC) returns to Golden State Athletic Conference play on Dec. 2 at Ottawa University Arizona.
