The numbers told the story Thursday night.
Multiple season-highs — and
Brock Gardner's career night — stole the show as No. 2 The Master's University remained undefeated with a 121-62 victory over SAGU American Indian College of Arizona inside the MacArthur Center.
Something else was on display, too.
"Was really happy tonight with the overall effort of our team," said TMU head coach
Kelvin Starr. "They were playing selfless basketball, 30 assists speaks to that."
That was one of the season-highs produced as the Mustangs improved to 6-0 and extended their home winning streak to 43 games.
So was the team's final point total, its highest since it scored 126 against Westcliff on December 8, 2017. Gardner scored a career-high 40 points on 16-of-20 shooting. He made 5-of-8 three-pointers and added 10 rebounds and six assists.
Jordan Starr scored 15 points with seven rebounds and nine assists, and
DJ Wilson chipped in 14 points.
Sixty-six of TMU's 121 points came in a second half when the Mustangs shot 62% from the field.
The Mustangs wound up converting a season-best 57% overall.
The Mustangs also drained a season-high 13 three-pointers and out-rebouned the Warriors 59-24, setting a season-high for rebounds.
Gardner went 7-of-8 from the field in a 17-point first half and then went 9-of-12 over the final 20 minutes.
After playing their first six regular-season games at home, the Mustangs go on the road for their next three.
The first of those, though, won't be until the day after Thanksgiving when the club plays The College of Idaho at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa at 7 p.m.
